Part 4 Round House Kick Your Personal Branding into Action!
If you haven’t missed the last post read on, but if you did click here.
The first post in this five part series dealt with learning about you, the second post was directed towards who your audience is, and the last post aimed at dealing with competition. This post is Part 4 in creating your personal marketing plan.
This happens to be my favorite part of the personal branding process, and it’s all about Setting Goals.
Goals are important when you’re planning to reach a point in your life that’s currently unattainable. In personal branding it’s best to let your goals evolve from your passions, the things you love to do. Let your goals direct you to what drives you in life! So what are some goals you can you come up with? Whatever they are, big or small they have to have five distinct characteristics.
All Goals Have To Be S.M.A.R.T !!!
Specific- Detailed knowing exactly what it will take to get the job done.
Measurable- You should be able to identify when the goal will be achieved.
Achievable- The goal should have the potential to be completed with the resources you currently or will have.
Realistic-The goal should fit into the frame of things that can definitely be done according to your resources.
Timed- There should be a set date when the goal should be completed.
Here are some great Questions You can ask yourself before writing out your goals.
1. What do you enjoy doing?
2. What would you like to learn?
3. What do you want to do with your career?
4. What do you need to do to live a more positive, productive life?
5. What awakens your imagine? Maybe art, music, nature, reading, etc.
6. Are your body and mind in the physical state you want to be in?
7. How close are you to your family and friends? Are you investing in those networks accordingly to how you value them?
8. What is your long term financial plan?
9. What are you contributing to society? How do you plan on giving back?
10. Are you at peace with yourself? Are you seeking a well developed spiritual connection?
11. What activities bring you joy in life? How can you spend more time doing these thing?
12. What does personal success mean to you? How would you define it?
Just a few quick tips to remember
1.Write out your long term goals first. They set the path to finding out what your short term goals will be. Think about what you will be doing in the next 20 years.
2. Write out your short term goals second. Think about what you would like achieve in the next five years.
3. Prioritize your goals. Always make sure you finish what needs to be done before you work on anything else.
4. Manage your time wisely! Stop doing things you would consider time wasters and replace them with things that bring you closer to your goals.
