From Zero to Hero: The Steven Slater Brand
What is it about the Steven Slater story that has compelled thousands of people to celebrate him as a national hero? Is it the deep resentment many of us hold against our employers?
Is it the passive aggressive build up from years of emotional violence? or maybe, it’s just the longing to look our boss in the eye and yell “I QUIT!”
Steven Slater is a man who will never be forgotten because he did something remarkable. He stood up, or should I say slide down for something he believed in.
Here’s 5 Things I Like About The Steven Slater Brand
1. When Life’s got you pushed up against the ropes and seemingly overpowered, do not hesitate to open the emergency exit. If you’re not ecstatic with what you’re doing in life, if you hate it and despise it with every fiber of your being, look for the fastest way to leave.
2. Don’t just leave, grab two beers on your way out! Celebrate your decision to escape a venomous work environment. Life is to short to spend it miserable and unsatisfied.
3. Understand there are other ways to get 35,000 ft in the air. When doors close, others will open. Believe in yourself and what you have to offer.
4. Smile when people ask you why you’ve made drastic changes in your life. Your positive attitude is confirmation that you’ve made the right decision for you.
5. Accept the consequences, but envision the potentials. When you make drastic life changes your choices might “short change” you in the immediate future, but if you have ambition, charisma, and determination to see it through, you can live the life you’ve always wanted.
Could Steven Slater have acted in a more professional manner, did he have to blow up, and cause a scene? That question is difficult to answer.
When you think about it, if he had walked off the airline calmly and handed in a letter of resignation, would we have ever known who he was? He’d probably be some nobody, lost in the sea of faces labeled unemployed.
Sometimes life is to dynamic for simple yes and no answers. This was one of those cases.

Great post! A lot of people like to complain everyday about their job situation but never do anything about it. This guy as well as many other’s did something about and was couth about it. I must pass this along
Sherman
Wow, I would love for you to visit my site and ck out my Radio interview. Also I have a huge request, how do you suggest getting my story on the local TV networks? I have something the entire US is going to be wanting in about 6 months, and I want to shout it from the mountain tops, as a cancer warrior, I want people to know there is another way.
Thanks, Sherman that means a lot!
