Hi, I’m just like you. Now I fit it.
People want to be different. Actually, let me rephrase that. People want to be as different as everyone else.
Who is original anymore? Who is the last person you’ve met and said to yourself, “Wow, that’s the first time I’ve met someone like that?”
For me, it’s been a while.
I can appreciate the primal functionality of needing to be accepted by a circle of peers. I can understand it’s purpose, but not at the cost of losing your individuality for a standardized life, career, an attitude about life.
One things is certain, we aren’t in the age of the neanderthals. We aren’t being forced to fit in for survival like we used to. So now we do it for other reasons…. less practical, but more terrifying…….we’re scared.
On an empty dance floor, one brave soul will take a chance to dance in front of a crowd, while the bystanders lean against the wall. Is that you in the shadows?
If you aspire to be a leader, today you must forfeit your seat to the comforts of mediocrity; comforts the majority of the world is sheltered in. A person such as yourself cannot be afforded such luxuries as a leader, a visionary, or a voice of authority.
Today, let your creativity proceed you. Let your image announce your arrival. Let your brand be a voice worth listening to.
And remember it’s not so hard to be different, all it takes is for you to

All too often I meet the same people, they just have different names.

Preach it! A lot of people, including myself, have compromise themselves in order to “fit in” and to have “friends”. I learned that if people can’t accept me for who I am then it would probably be best if we were just acquaintances, especially if they’re not going to help you in your continuous growth as a valuable person. Great post Karl!
