S.W.O.T: The Goonies Are Back! Part 2
Continuing the series on S.W.O.T in your personal life, today we’re going to address Weaknesses. If you missed the last post on the series here’s the link.
So how do we define our weaknesses? Well, to get into that let’s first look at the definition of weak.
Weak: Being mentally or intellectually deficient in performing a task.
Can you think of anything in your life you’re doing right now that fits into that category? Not even one thing huh? Wow, it must be great being you
Putting together a list of things I suck at doing… Undoubtedly, this could turn out to be an all day event.
In the Goonies movie, the characters made an excellent example of how to address weaknesses.
“Let someone else do it!”
In the back to back near death scenarios the Goonies ran into, relying on a team player’s weakness to escape peril would’ve made this movie extremely short.
The Goonies had a team and you should too. The one man band can be very entertaining to watch, but is far from productive and effective.
Today take account of all the things you’re doing in your personal and professional life that you consider yourself doing below average. Think about outsourcing the work (this could prove interesting in romantic relationships) if you can’t get rid of performing the task all together.
Good News:
Our weaknesses have the potential to set us free once we expose them for what they are. Stop patting yourself on the back for completing mediocre work, rather, give the praise to someone else for doing an exceptional job.
I dare you to try this simple but effective method of focusing your efforts on what you do best, and track how it’s effecting your life.
Don’t miss the next part to this series “Opportunities” where we’ll talk about finding the not so hidden treasures.
