Getting It Done In Fort Lauderdale
If you’re ever going to make a name for yourself always start at home. And, though I’m not originally from Fort Lauderdale, I’ve been living here for more then 12 years, so I figured this would be a good enough place to start.
Fort Lauderdale’s an amazing place to start a business, and my thesis stands on the ground that I’ve worked a fair number of jobs here, and this is not a state you want to be an employee in. If security is an issue, having a job here means crossing your fingers everyday when you show up to work. Good luck!
I outgrew that fear of putting my future in someone else’s hands a while back. Yea it took a little guts, and then a lot more of it, but was certainly worth it.
When you’re 24, no college credentials, and selling a high end marketing service you’re going to get a fair share of skeptics. I’m doing something professionals with doctorate degrees would think is impossible, but I’m finding having a little focus and drive can get you a long way in the business world.
Whatever obstacles I have in my path I’m definitely not letting them get in my way, and plus I’ve already decided what kind of waterfront property I want to own in Fort Lauderdale, so there’s no going back now.
2011 has taken an amazing start for business, and I’m more then pleased. This year will be more video marketing, more event planning, more social togetherness, at least on my blog. I honestly want to take everyone on the ride of how I go from running a blog to one of the largest social media marketing firms in South Florida.
The only thing standing in my way now is the supposed destruction of Earth in 2012. It could potentially be bad for business.
So what town are you making a name for yourself in?

I’m trying to figure out how to get past that whole Apocalypse thing too. If I figure it out, I’ll let you know. Best of luck to you in 2011!

CITY!! Man, I need to catch up with you. Life has been rough the past couple of months. But I’m beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Glad to see that you’re doing great. We got to chat.
Couldn’t agree more with this article. I have been involved with entrepreneur ship and consulting for over 11 years now, in cities all over the nation. Every fiber in my body wanted to go roll the dice in larger markets. However, 2 years ago after making the move to Ft. Lauderdale for all the right reasons (Sun, Beaches, Culture, etc…) I was amazed and the existing and emerging opportunity here. 1 year ago we started The Collide Factory : South Florida. Its a 4000 sqft creative coworking and idea incubator dedicating to building, resourcing and just being a part of the emerging movement everyone is seeing in this region.
Great article, it’s about time someone said this on the record!

Hey Jake, sorry for the late response. Sales is too broad of a field, be specific, what kind of sales? If you knew the exact company you’d like to work for, that’d be the best starting point. Check me out on my new blog http://karlsly.com
